We have two violin, viola, cello, bass and bow stores with repair and rehair shops. There is a shop and store in Kitchener - Waterloo and Stratford, Ontario, Canada.  We are close to Guelph, Cambridge, London, Hamilton, Toronto, Mississauga, Goderich, Woodstock, Brantford, Oakville and Burlington. We also sell and repair brass and woodwind instruments, and accordions. 


Our stores have been supplying both Canadian and International clients with violins, violas, cellos, basses, bows and the services they require for over a quarter century.

Covid 19 Changes

Our staff in our Kitchener store (2) and separate workshops (3) are still well and working with sanitary procedures. In accordance with provincial covid-19 regulations, our store is now allowed to have appointments for one adult customer, or one adult and a child at a time, for up to one hour, while wearing PPE, to purchase instruments over $700, bows over $300, and cases over $250. After you have been in the store we will sanitize all items that have been touched. [Our Stratford location is by appointment and curbside only.]

However, we will continue curbside pickup and drop-off by appointment, for all repairs, bow rehairing, music, accessories, appraisals, evaluations, consignments, sales and rentals of instruments below $700, or bows below $300, or cases below $250. For instruments being left for evaluation, please put a note with it that has your pertinent information and the date on it for us. Please note that for instruments being left for evaluation or repair we have to leave them sit in quarantine in our building for 4 days before we can start them. For Bows, not in a violin case, we can sterilize them when they get to the store and start on them the same day or next day.

We will select the best item(s) from our extensive collection to match your request and budget. If you like, we will send you pictures and full descriptions of the item(s), and if you decide to buy the item(s), please pay by e-transfer 1.5 to 2 hours in advance so the payment has time to process. ‎We have automatic deposit, so it's easy. However, at this time, we can also tap your credit card for purchases under $250 (the in-person "tap" limit), for curbside pickups. If you decide to exchange an instrument, bow, or case for another, please let us know within 10 days, and we will arrange an appointment time for you to dropoff the first item(s) [which must be in the same condition as when sold], and for you to pickup the replacement item(s). There will not be a 3% restocking fee if you paid by e-transfer.

Safety procedures: When you come, we will ask you to verify that you do not have any symptoms of illness, and you have not knowingly been in contact with anybody that is ill in the last 3 weeks.

Then you will have to wash your hands for 30 seconds outside our store with hand sanitizer that we provide for you. We will select instruments, bows and cases based on your specific requests. You will also have to wear a completely clean mask that has not been worn before you get to the store. We will provide a new mask for you if necessary. We will be wearing masks as well, so no one can breathe on anybody else.

Please note that our bathroom will not be open for customer use.

For all instrument sales, bows, repairs, music, accessories, and rentals up to $250 including tax, we can tap your Visa or MasterCard or some debit cards in our store and give it back to you.

We are also taking phone and email orders, and shipping at cost by post or providing items with contactless delivery for a fee for up to 10 km. ($3 per kilometre with a $5 minimum). Payments are preferred by E-transfer to the our email address, 1.5-2 hours prior to shipping or delivery. We have direct deposit, so it's easy for you. If you do need to pay by credit card for items up to $2,000, we will need you to provide us with a sheet of paper with your signature, address, and credit card information on it, that also says the items that you are purchasing and that Riedstra's Violin Shop Inc has your permission to charge your card for them. We will however have to verify your credit card and driver's license when you come.

For any item being returned that was paid by credit card, there will be a 3% restocking fee. If the item is being exchanged for a similar or better item, there probably won't be a fee for restocking.

All payments for rental contracts, other contracts, and consignments will continue as normal.
